Race to the “Fairway Derby” Couple’s Event on July 12th

It’s time to sign-up now for loads of fun beginning with a fairway derby and followed by golf, dinner and lots of laughs.  Deadline 5pm July 5th!

It’s time to invite your husband, boyfriend, girlfriend or fellow Niner to join you as a partner for the Couple’s Event.  The game on July 12th will be a four person scramble with a shotgun start.  Our Pro Shop will pair you and your partner with another twosome to make your foursome.  If you and another twosome would like to play together, write your names next to each other in the sign-up book and bracket the names to show they are a foursome.  The Pro Shop will fill your request if possible.

Here’s the schedule for “Fairway Derby”:

2:00pm:  Check in. Between 2pm and 3pm there will be time for you to have a free photo taken with a Kentucky Derby horse winner and to use your spare change to purchase mulligans, etc.  You should be feeling lucky by now!  Speaking of luck, prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place on each of the three nine-hole courses.

3:00pm:  Fairway Derby! Plan to be all checked in so you can be a racer at the starting line or be a member of the cheering crowd for the “Fairway Derby” on the driving range.

4:00pm:  Shotgun start at the course and hole number assigned to you. Green fees are $15/person.

6:00-6:30pm:  Our dinner in the clubhouse dining room will begin.  It will feature a catered dinner by Dalton’s Northwest including tri-tip steak with mushroom sauce, baked potato (with all the condiments), vegetable medley, fresh Oregon pear salad, wine, maybe a Mint Julip(!) and for dessert, brownies with ice cream–all this for $28/person.

In keeping with the “Derby” traditions, ladies are encouraged, but not required, to wear a “bodacious” hat.

Do you want to be a driver in the Derby?  The race will start at the far end of the driving range at 3:00pm.  The legal carts for our race are the E-carts or Club carts–no carts powered by gas or hay. The limit for our “Derby” will be 12 carts, and drivers will sign up on a special “cart race” sign up sheet in the “Fairway Derby” book.  The fee to enter the race is $10 and is due on July 5th.  Make the check to Niners and mark it “Cart Race”. Drivers will also sign a “Liability Waiver” and include it with the check. You may choose from past horse winners for the name of  your cart and decorate it if you wish.

The Niners will have all three nine-hole courses for our event, so there will be no refunds after July 5th.  The sign-up and payment routine will be the same as with our Guest Day event in June. Pay for dinner and green fees with two separate checks by July 5th at 5pm.  Cart racers will write a third check to register their cart.

Write one check for green fees in the amount of $15/per person to:  Charbonneau Golf Club.  Please include your names and “Couples Event” on the check.  If a golfer has an annual pass, no green fee is needed, however please note “annual pass” next to the player in the sign-up book.

Write your second check for dinner in the amount of $28/per person to:  Niners

Sign up in the book marked “Fairway Derby” and turn in your checks to a Pro Shop staff member no later than 5pm July 5th.

Plan ahead for Fairway Derby day to enjoy the fun. Thanks to Betty Rogers and Jane King for chairing this event.  Please give Betty or Jane a call if your have any questions about “Fairway Derby”.
