Final call for Pink Ball plus a Wine Request

The last day to sign up for golf and lunch is quickly approaching–September 6th.  Find the sign-up book in the Pro Shop Club Room.

We have an opportunity to play a major part in helping to raise funds for the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU.  Last year the “Charbonneau Pink Ball” raised over $47,000 to help fund their research for new cures for cancer.  Besides individual contributions, and Tee Box “memory signs”, Corporate Sponsorship and other fundraising efforts, the generosity of Charbonneau residents with wine and beer donations contributed in raising over $3100 towards the final tally.  We hope to increase that figure again this year.

Once again, we are providing donated wine and beer for this year’s tournament.  Wine is sold by the glass at the tournament, and leftover wine is auctioned off.  The more wine and beer that is donated, the greater will be the funds that we can raise–and we need your help.

We are asking everyone who receives this e-mail to donate 2 bottles of wine (the type you would drink), or more–or whatever you can donate.  Please bring the wine to Bob & Elaine Junta’s at 32675 SW Lake Point Court.  If they are not home, you can leave it in their courtyard with your name.  If you would like to make other arrangements, please call them at 503/694-2888.  If you have any questions, please call Dana Richmond at 503/694-6983.

We are asking a lot, but Cancer has affected EVERYONE at Charbonneau in so many ways.  This is the biggest cancer fundraiser that we have at Charbonneau and a huge opportunity for us to help with local cancer research.  Whatever you can do, any and all donations that you make will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all your consideration and generous donations.

Mark your calendar for another great Girls Night Out. The entry fee will again be $10, payable to CWGA. Place your check in the CWGA slot in the members’ lounge by Friday, August 8th.

All proceeds will be donated to a groundskeeper who was severely injured this spring. Cash donations will also be appreciated.

Chris Bensel, Charbonneau Golf Pro, has arranged for golf company club demonstrations and clothing between 1:00 and 4:00 (Fall line 2014 included), as well as a trunk show in the Fireside Room following golf.

Check in at the pro shop at 4:00 to pay for 9 holes of golf. We will tee off at 4:30. The format will be a 4-person Scramble using only 3 clubs plus a putter. Be prepared for a silly challenge on each hole. Team members will be paired by the pro shop.

Pizza, salad, pop and water will be provided following golf on the Garden Terrace. Bring your own beverage if you prefer.

Join in for Hot August Nights fun!

All Charbonneau Golfers are invited to join the CWGA Charbonneau Cup. Aug. 28th.

The entry fee for men is $20.00 which all goes to help fund the Geese Guys!  (Men can order a sandwich lunch when they sign up.)

Men simply sign up at the pro shop.  Make your check out to CWGA for $20.00.  If you want lunch, it is $10 paid to the pro shop.  There is a separate sign-up sheet in the members’ lounge for men.

This is “FORE” you!!

A concerted effort is underway to strengthen the presence of women’s golf at Charbonneau.  The Pro Shop will be supporting events designed to create more opportunities for ALL WOMEN who want to play golf at Charbonneau.  These events are planned for Charbonneau Club members as well as any woman who works during the week or has other obligations prohibiting her playing with the organized clubs.  Membership is NOT required in order to participate and non-resident golfers are encouraged to join in the fun.  Listed below are events planned to assist in bringing women golfers together for fun and skill development, as well as helping to improve the business of golf at Charbonneau.

  • ANY WOMAN PLAYSaturday mornings.  Any woman golfer may sign up to play nine holes with this group.  Tee times will be managed by the pro shop.  This program replaces the smaller groups that have been playing during this time slot.THURSDAYS AT FOUR – Every other Thursday, a time will be reserved for women golfers to play nine holes.  There will be no prizes, no hassle… just fun!
  • GIRLS’  NIGHT OUT –  A fun 9-hole, no shotgun game with dinner following will be held Friday, June 6th at 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 13th at 4:00 p.m.  Watch for additional details in the spring!  Get these dates on your calendar!
  • ONCE A MONTH CLINICS-Six (6) three-day clinics have been planned to cover all aspects of golf.  Clinics will begin in May, 2014.  Fliers are available in the pro shop.

A forum has been scheduled for May 14th, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.,  inthe club house to discuss all of the above events and to answer any questions you may have.  It is believed that reaching out to all women golfers will benefit the golf club and both women’s organizations.  When you ask yourself the question:  “Is this for me?”  The answer is “YES”.
