Cancer Survivors and Charbonneau Niners

Dear Niners!

Several of us on the Pink Ball Committee enjoyed a private tour of the Knight Cancer Institute this morning. Very impressive, the design and construction won the Platinum Award from the State. Our donations are directed to Research programs at the Institute. It was a great motivation to get ready for September 10th, still the largest event held in Charbonneau.

The Villager is going to do a ‘Kick Off’ article on the Pink Ball in the August issue. Clara Howell, an editor, would like to interview 10 Niners who have had cancer and/or lost a family/friend to cancer.

If you would like to share your feelings and agree to have them in the Villager newspaper, please reply and/or contact me. I will coordinate your interview with Clara.

I would like to begin our meetings for Pink Ball 2019. The first meeting will be held next Wednesday, June 26th, in the conference room in the Charbonneau Clubhouse. Time-10:00a.m-11:00 a.m. Coffee and pastries served.

Several of you have talked to me at Tuesday golf to say you would like to get involved. I will personally contact you as well.

Thank you all and hope to see you next Wednesday. If you cannot make this meeting, call me and I will invite you to all upcoming meetings and talk about committee chairs looking for help.

2020 Golf Season – Sign Up To Be An Officer

Yes, it is time start thinking about the 2020 Niners Golf Season.
We need officers.
Maybe you have been an officer in the past and after a hiatus you want to get back in the saddle, or you are new to the Niners and feel you would like to be in a leadership role.
The following offices need to be filled:
  •  Co-President – This person will work with Mary Fieweger.
  •  Two Vice Presidents – These people are responsible for the monthly articles for the Villager and would normally be in line for Co-Presidents the following year.
  •  Secretary – This person is responsible for recording the minutes of all meetings.
We have someone who is willing to be the Treasurer.
If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact Marikate Book

Proposed Change to Niner Bylaws

NOTICE

At the June 7, 2019 Niners’ Board Meeting a motion was made to amend Article I Section 5 of the Bylaws.

The Section currently states that “All dues shall be payable on January 1 for the ensuing calendar year”….

The proposed amendment will change the Section to read – “All dues shall be payable on or before December 30 for the ensuing calendar year. Dues paid by returning members after January 1 will be assessed a $10 late fee. ”

This amendment is recommended by the Board to comply with the OGA ruling that all players are to be deactivated by December 31, and reactivated upon payment of dues. This will assure those players who travel south for the winter and want to post scores will be able to do so.

Article VII Section 1 states that amendments to the Bylaws must be proposed to the Board for discussion. Section 2 requires that the proposed amendment be posted in the Clubhouse for two weeks prior to a vote for adoption. Section 3 states that any amendment may be adopted at a regular or special meeting at which a quorum and two officers are present.

This amendment to the Bylaws will be on the agenda for approval at the Niners’ general meeting on June 25, 2019.

OHSU PHIL KNIGHT CANCER INSTITUTE TOUR THURSDAY JUNE 20TH AT11:00 A.M

Dear Charbonneau Womens’ Niners:

We have confirmed Thursday, June 20th, at 11:00 a.m. for a tour of the new ‘state of the art’ Phil Knight Cancer Institute. It opened in September, 2018.

Lisa Nolen and Becca Brownlee, Development OHSU, will be our hosts and tour guides.

Lisa and Becca are going to send me recommendations for parking. Car pooling will be best. I have a few driving at this time that can take 2-3 additional.

If you reply to me that you would like to drive and/or need a ride, I will work on this and get back to you.

The fewer cars the better!

They are so excited with our interest to tour the new Institute and are very appreciative of our support through our Pink Ball Tournament!
